Need help overclocking my AMD Athlon 64 3500+ socket 939 2.2 GHz Newcastle

Thread Starter
I have an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz socket 939 Newcastle currently running at 2.42 GHz.. I have used the preset in my bios to overclock it to 10%

This is the furthest it can go, by using the original overclocking preset with 10%, using an ASUS A8V Deluxe mobo

However, another preset is available in the other menu. I can use "adaptive overclocking", and use the maximum preset of 17%. I tried this, and it didn't ruin the processor or anything, it just wouldn't boot into windows and said my cpu fan failed. So I'm assuming the fan's rpm could not compensate for the change in speed.

So is there any other manual way or program that I can use with the motherboard I have to overclock my cpu further. I'd like to get a relative gain out of it, as it is only currently overclocked at 10% and its stable.

I also have a CPU-z screenie

Regards,

Alex

Try to set the O.C. option to manual instead of 10% It should open up a bunch more options to manually O.C. the FSB and voltage and HT multiplier etc.
