Order of flow with a cpu&gpu block?

Thread Starter 
I have a Laing DDC pump, 3x120 mm rad, d-tek fuzion. DD 8800 GTS waterblock a Swiftech Micro Res cooling my Q6600 and my 8800 GTS superclocked. I will be ocin my 6600 so long as I can keep my temps down enough. What is the most efficient order to run this loop? Im concerned that because the 6600 and the GFX Card run very hot im going to have a ahrd time cooling them both.

Any thoughts, comments?

Yeah thats the way I run mine to...That way the coolest water after the rad will hit the CPU first...If you have to run a lot of extra tubing to do it just run it however...All the extra tubing would just cause extra restriction anyway and defeat the purpose of running it like that....

That's how I ran mine too, but one thing I noticed is my water temp really didn't rise very much, in fact I'm lucky to see 1C of water temp difference between before E6600 + 8800gtx and after. At first I was thinking there would be much hotter water going into the 8800.

In the end I wouldn't worry too much about 1C, but I would still try to cool the CPU first, the GPUs can handle heat much better. I also like pumping to the rad first then CPU so the rad can remove what little heat the pump is dumping as well.

The single most important thing about loop order for me is to get the reservoir or T line in right before the pump, everything else is minor.

Do you have your probes tips right down in the flow? I drop 1.5-2.5C across my 480GTX and thats about what I drooped across my BIX 240....If they are not in the flow it will read a C or so cooler ...The tips of mine are beveled so it doesn't really restrict flow any....

I'll try some diiferent depths...right now they are about flush...one in each loop and they are close with the gpu loops ruuning very slightly hotter.

Yeah thats how I had mine at first then I put them further down in the flow and the temp's went up...I just hooked mine up again today and one of them crapped out on me....I'll recheck my solder joints tomorrow if thats not it I'll have to get another one...Which ones are you using?

Still just using my aquarium temp probes($10 PETCO style )...not probably the most accurate but they check out good relative to each other and close to my IR thermometer as well as another digital with probe I use for my ambients.

Yeah I just have those cheap Alphacool temp probes I put in T's in my loop...One before the rad and one after...I can switch the leads and it stays the same hooked them to compu-nurse read-outs...I use flat ribbon themisters for rad air in and out and case temp and ambient...Nothing that I would call accurate by any means but it gives me an idea of my loop condition anyway...

The good stuff that could be called accurate is just to expensive...I'm not going to spend 4 or 5 hundred bux for a Fluke digital thermal probe to play with on my loop... ...Then a decent calibrated flow meter is another 3 to 4 hundred bux..It would be kind of nice then you could really say with certainty what the temp and flow is...But its not worth that much to me...The temp's and flow we measure is so small we need really accurate gear to measure it with to do it properly...
