I'll tell you if it's worth it to move to an HD 2900XT (unless you want to go GTX of course). Run a default 3Dmark06 benchmark. If you've hit 11k then keep your current card as DX10 is "not worth it" yet.

Save the $35 or whatever it is for a 640, you'll notice a difference in the longrun.

Don't bother with an HD2900XT, simply because -- it blows. ATI lost this round, simple as that, maybe next year, but not now. Go nVidia this gen.

8800GTS 640MB - close, but lower than the ATI, 350-375$ range
8800GTS 320 and 1950XTX close, nVidia supports Dx10 on this one.

Choose in function of your budget, imo the 2900XT is the best $/performance.

I was saying that if you can sell now the VID card, sell it. You'll probably get 250-280$ for it. Now there are no Dx10 applications, so your VID card is not handicapped in any way.

When the Dx10 games will show up (september), your card won't be able to run them. No man in his right mind will pay more than 150$ for a card than CAN'T run the latest games at all.

Now, you can get a decent price for it, in 3 months I guarantee you won't. The 8800GTS or the 2900XT are good cards for the money, and right now you'll have to put out a mere 100$ for the upgrade - in fall you'll put out minimum 200$ if not 250$. Plus you'll have for these 3 months a better card.

IMO who still had a x19x0 card should sell them while still possible, that is if they care about the money.
I got a x1950XT should i sell it now?

IMHO, No. you pretty much have the same system i have (age wise), and i still expect to hold on to mine for another year or two. I don't plan on doing any more upgrades to it unless it is absolutely necessary to upgrade to DX10.

I would just say to keep the card for now, it's a great card, and save the money for a 9XXX series or a X3XXX series. They'll be out soon enough.

OC's don't stick to the card. You'd have to walk who ever you sold the card to through the OC process.

The XTX has GDDR4 as far as I know, it will be hard to push the GDDR3 to 2.2GHz. My point is that now, you can still get at least 250$ for it.

I have a 8600GT. When Chrisis will appear, and with the 8600GT I'll be able to play it, there's no way I'm gonna pay more than 150$ for a card that can't. It is true that in Dx9 7900GTX, x1950XT and others pawn my GFX card, but I don't care about that, and there are many that don't.

IMHO a 8800GTS 320 MB will do well enough in Dx10 to be able to play at 1440*900 max details and maybe some 2xAA/8xAF. It seems a fine deal to me, and it's even better if you have the money to get a 2900XT or a GTX.
