That's because you have a LCD? CRTs are refresh rate is different. 60Hz on a CRT hurts after awhile. Read my FAQ to learn more.

How do you get that high? 85Hz, mine only goes up to 75Hz, you override it?

Higher it is the less flicker you will get, so run it at 75 and the flicker will be much less.

75 hertz is better then 60, but 85 is probably optimal.

I don't even like 85, I run my P1130 at 1600x1200 at 100hz. After a while at 100, anything lower starts to strain your eyes too I don't know how you guys can handle 60hz or even 75 all day long.

By the way, with any somewhat recent CRT monitor (I'll say year 1998+) it's not possible to run refresh rates that the monitor can't handle. If it receives an input with more refreshes/second than what it's capable of, it will give an "out of range" or "out of sync" error and not display anything.

I run my 19" AL1916W ACER monitor @ 1440x900 resolution with 75hz refresh rate. It is probably the best that I will have this until I decide to upgrade to a 24" widescreen Samsung.

look one foot to the side of your monitor. If you can see flickering, you need to raise the refresh rate. (it's usually pretty obvious)

Anything below 85Hz on a CRT basically makes me wanna cry. I can't barely look at a CRT anymore, though...they are awful.

The refresh rates usually can go higher on lower resolutions...and ya...sometimes you can just override them.
