To add 2 GB or buy 2x2 GB sticks

Thread Starter
I am in the market for some new ram.I need more ram for video editing.2GB just doesn't seem to be enough so I want to go with 4gb.I currently have 2x1gb Geil Ultra and was thinking of spending another $100 to get another set.
I really can't afford $220 for G.Skill 2x2GB sticks yet.
So my question is will it slow me down more using 4 sticks rather then using the 2 sticks I amusing now?

I would get 4 sticks. If you already bought a 2x1GB Kit for $100 it will only cost you $100 more to get 4GB. However, a 2x2GB Kit will cost you $200. So, adding more ram would be the better option. It will not slow you down, and, you get the same amount of ram for half the price.

I just purchased 4GB of memory. If you only need 4GB of memory (for the near future) just get 2x1GB. They will normally performance better (in terms of overclocking / latencies) as well.
