Fight Global Warming from Your Desktop - Page 7

Global Warming is a Lie. If there is a warming, it's galactic. The only thing that is constant is change. the satellite that was used to measure temperatures in the north that Al Gore and many other men used as proof of global warming was actually not calibrated correctly.:swearing:

Global Warming is a Fraud. Al Gore has 'stolen' more money from this project than is conceivable. His new house than takes down more energy than you can believe, his new jet, new car, and new life takes more energy down that you can believe. He doesn't believe in global warming, but he puts on a good facade doesn't he?

Inaccuracies of Global Warming. We have been using thermal measurement devices for a long time. It was only a little over a century ago that we started measuring and recording in areas. It wasn't until computers you could measure a temperature within, at most, 1/8 a degree. Global warming is increasing the temperature of the planet at 'an alarming rate' of .74 degrees FAHRENHEIT! Are we even sure we counted seasons? How can we judge what will happen to Earth that is billions (I think leading scientists are calling it billions now) of years old, when we have only recorded over 100 years of its history?

The Ice Melting Thing. Has anyone here taken ice, put it in a glass of water, measured the level of the water, then let the ice melt, and check the water level again? I HAVE! guess what happened... nothing! (other than the overall temperature of the glass went up to room temperature).(by the way, I said ice caps, not bottoms, so they aren't reaching the ground. This is just a disclaimer if you're thinking about trying the ice in a glass thing - don't let it touch the bottom, just like the ice caps). IF ice was melting, it won't raise water levels (why do you think so many rich people who claim to support global warming are under the proposed water level after the ice caps melt?), but its not. Polar bears aren't endangered, they're doing just fine, and they have plenty of ice and land to walk on.

edit: read some of the posts before mine, and I just wanted to interject that what gets me depressed is people who try to make my life seem bad, tell me that there are others who have it worse, then make my life worse by taking my money and time to 'help' those people... and Al Gore. shudder*

I'm willing to answer responses, but I'm going to sleep right now an won't be on for a while. Feel free to PM me because I may not remember to check this.

Good old folding... My room is kept at a constant 89 degrees Fahrenheit due to my rigs being ALWAYS on, ALWAYS crunching, and NEVER caring about global warming...

It seems that folding for a cure is more important than not folding to save energy.

I must take a shot at folding, however I don't have much proof. Please, I sincerely ask you to set me straight if I'm wrong, but folding seems a little pointless. We have been folding@home as a specie since about 2000. We still haven't found any cures yet. I do however know that there are still a lot of proteins out there, and in the beginning there wasn't too many people involved. Could all our computers being linked together really work? can a team of no more than maybe 50 people process all that data and keep it going? maybe all our computers are just being soaked up so someone can host a bunch of servers for Call of Duty (just a joke)?
