CoreTemp Questions

Thread Starter
I have two questions actually concerning CoreTemp. First both of my cores are reporting quite different numbers pertaining to heat temps. CoreTemp reports one as being 33c and the other as being 39c. Someone told me that there shouldn't be that big of a gap between the two. How can I fix this? Is it really a problem? Also what is too high a temp for the cores? Any info is, of coarse, useful.

I usually have about a 4-5 degree difference in cores. If your temp difference is 10 or more, then you have a problem. Also try to keep your cores below 60.

Are those load temps or idle temps?

The differences between the cores is normal. In fact, depending on the tasks you are doing, certain areas of the core will heat up. It all really depends on what part of the chip is being utilized from moment to moment. CPUs are only similar to the other chips cut from the same waifer, so one batch might have a different range between the core temps then another. Dont get me wrong, there shouldnt be a difference >10°C. But rest assured, there is nothing wrong with your CPU.
