Mid Range Graphics Card - Page 4

The X1950 is much better than a 7900GS. You can run AA+HDR at the same time, while the Geforce 7 series can not. Well, you can, but it chokes on it.

the 8600gt/gts does not beat a 7900gs by those reviews you posted i got my gs up to 780/920 for benchmarks and i score 6681 on 3dmark 06 with a pentd. They used a c2d in the review overclocked no doubt the 8600gt/gts are good cards. But if they get beat by 7x cards on dx9 how bad are they gonna suck in dx10.

I am soo confused. 7900 GS or 8600GT??!
Im liking the sound of 7900 GS but I need to find one with a quieter fan...

EDIT: After looking at Toms Hardware's June 07 Best Graphics Card for the $$$ review, I've decided to agree with them, and consider both the X1950 PRO and the 7900 GS. I'm slightly limited in terms of manufacturers, but the two good deals for those two reference cards are the Sapphire X1950 Pro and the EVGA 7900 GS KO, could anyone comment on those or provide a link to a better one from Directcanada.com

EDIT EDIT: Also, the HIS ICEQ Turbo http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...967&CatId=1560 is an option if the nice cooler is worth it.

Thanks,

Nick

Yeah that is a bit weird, but after reading a few reviews about the HIS X1950 PRO ICEQ3 Turbo, it seems like a very good card to get, and it is also quiet. I dont mind shelling out the extra bit of money for the nice cooler, as long as the HIS x1950 is a good performer.

Any opinions?

Every review I read on the net showed the 8600GTS breaking even with or losing to a 7900GS. It is certainly not nearly as fast as the 7900GTX.

The X1950Pro is an excellent card, although aftermarket cooling is most assuredly recommended, at least my Sapphire needed it to stay quiet!!! It doesn't OC much more than stock but it performs like you wouldn't believe!!!

I would believe you if you changed that to a "7900GS"

Ya but clock for clock the 7900gs owns the 8600 cards if you look at most the overclocks they take 800/1000 to get over 6500 on 3dmark06. But a gs can do it with around 700/900. Id go with a 7900gs or a x1950 either would be a nice upgrade for a while or wait and catch a 8800 on sell maybe or open box.

Alright its now between the 7900 GS, X1950 PRO and 8600 GS/GTS
Does anyone know where I could find a good comparison of these cards in a gaming enviroment? I'm slightly more leaned towards the 8600 GTS, but I would like to know anything about the fan if its loud or not. ( Probably going with EVGA for this one so I could step up to 8800GTS later possibly )

The X1950 Pro, I think I am considering the ASUS, HIS ICEQ3 Turbo and Sapphire models. So any comparison for those three models would be awesome. Also, the 7900 GS Evga would probably be the only model of that card I would consider.

Soo.. help me! I need to order these tonight or tommorow night if possible.
