if its anything like the playstation set up all the controller ports come to a single ribon cable that plugs into the motherboard. Open up your xbox to see if its connected, in movement it may of come unplugged.

They aren't on a single ribbon, I can tell you that.

I've modded my Xbox extensively and recently only my 4th port stopped working. They must be seperate.

Has there been a power outage since the last time you played? If your Xbox has been plugged in without a surge protector and a power spike occured, the USB controllers on the motherboard may be fried...among other things.

The Xbox uses two USB controllers, one for port 1 & 2 and another for ports 3 & 4. Unless they both came physically unplugged, it's a hardware issue.

My god, I didn't mean there is a power outage now...

while you wern't playing! Haven't you ever heard of a power outage causing a power spike which causes people's computers to be fried? The same can happen to an Xbox, even if its off.
