I'm talking about SLI.. For two 7900GS SLIed, you would get limited by only 256 RAM except in lower resolutions.

i highly doubt that. im running right now 2 SLIed bfg 7300 gt oc's. and they only are 256mb and only gddr2 and im playin all my games at highest resolution. for example, fear, bf2142, css, and oblivion. but only at medium quality most of the time. so the difference in mem, core and the mem speed which is ddr3, should be WAY more than enough to play on highest settings, which people have proven it has. plus thats just stock, and on top of that they overclock like crazy from reviews i read. so on top of that they gonna run even better. and on my cards i haven't seen or had any problems. and the 7300s suck ass compared to the 7900s and w.e i said thread closed. i know what im getting and im buying the cards, not you. u might have money to spend 300+ on a single card. but i find that stupid, when i can get 2 amazing, and proven to be amazing, dx9 cards, and water cool them for the same price, as a single dx10 card. and i bet that these cards SLIed would be the same or if not better than a single 8800gts. its like saying a 2gig ram card could out perform 2x 1gigs or the even better 4x512mb's. and im comparing them like that because from the stats from nvidia the 7900s is basically half of the 8800gts. so im guessing two cards working together can top that single card or at least match it IMO. and to say "Seriously, sli isn't that great unless you're SLIing two top cards.. " is just stupid. do you hear yourself? sli has been out for a while. so suddenly if what u said is true. sli sucked till the magical 8 series came out? thats dumb. u sayin like the 7 series sucked. which they were the **** for a while and still are awesome cards. so if what u say is true as soon as 9 series comes out 8 series is automatically crap and no one should buy it. nah **** that. im fine with the 7900's. plus if the 8800gts proves to be superior than the 7 series why is the 7950 GX2 still more than double the price of it?

"Two single slot cards take up less space then a dual slot card? " uh yea... do you even think b4 u post? i got an sli board = 2 pcix16 slots that fit only my video cards. so i can fit 2 single cards in those spots. but if i get a dual slot card, it takes 1 of my pcix16 plus a regular pci slot, and i still have that other pcix16 slot free and not doing anything unless i stick another dual slot card that then would waste another pci slot. so yea 2 single cards take less space. its common sense.

i dont want this to become an arguement, just that was close minded of you to say, plus didnt make sense. and if it did, so yea. done. i know what im getting.

Uh dude, where'd I say that 7900's suck? I said that SLI is only really good if you sli two top of the line cards, when 7900s were top of the line SLI was good.. Guess what, they're not now. SLI adds like 40-50% performance for double the price and you also misunderstood the RAM thing.. Of course your 7300gs wouldn't be limited by the RAM since they're so slow and you said yourself 7900's are way faster and therefore use up more memory.. Two 7900's sharing just 256mb is like an 8800GTX with 256mb just not to the same extent. Ever wonder why they don't just slap 256mb on a GTX? Cause it BOTTLENECKS it and that's exactly what'll happen with your 7900s.

Why do you think two cards are better then one? If performance is the same why do you want two? So that it looks cooler in your system specs? The 8800GTS WILL perform better..

Space thing you got me there, whatever, do you actually need all your pci slots?

And yeah, you made your decision already (poor IN MY OPINION) but you just completely misunderstood everything I said and made some crazy assumptions.. Close-minded of me to say? Didn't make sense? I'm no idiot, don't have a hissy fit when I try to explain a different perspective.

ok yea my bad bro, didnt read my post n did kinda sound like i was a lil *****y. lol sry, didnt mean for it to come out as that. but w.e i guess i gotta do a lil more research b4 i buy to make sure but as now im doing the 7900s and watercooling them. becuase if i were to just upgrading my cards thats a different story and getting 1 8800gts would make sence. but im planning on getting a new psu, the one i got now is going to the novell 4.11, im getting 4x 1gb ram OCZ Reaper 800mhz, a creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro sound card, getting cooling fans for my hdds and for my ram cards. cables to hook up to my tv and surround sound. Watercooling my cpu and, as i mentioned earlier, my gpus. and yet again, i WANT to watercool, but if i were to watercool the 8800gts waterclock would run me 100+ so in total 400+, when i was planin on gettin the 7900gs and watercooling them for 330. which origionally i wasnt gonna spend more than $300 on video card(s) plus cooling, so i had already went over $30, but if i do the 8800gts i would be goin $100 or more over. not worth it IMO.

im happy with my 7900gs's in SLi.... why is a X1950XT talking about nvidia cards? thats why i wanna know. I run rainbow six vegas at 1680x1050 maxxed out with my setup and i get over 50fps 75% of the time. plus i never get less than 35fps. experience proves more than what you read. take it from me, ail45, 7900gs SLI is not a bad way to go. plus you can get mem past 2000Mhz, and core past 700mhz if you water cool it. THAT my friend will out perform a single 8800gts 320mb. but not the 640.
