overclocked and lost 1000 points

Thread Starter
I accidentally posted in the wrong thread so yes I know this is a repost....Sorry

I overclocked my Q6600 another 195Mhz over the 3Ghz I had it set to..

My 3Dmark06 score droped by 1000 points from 12853 to 11849

I changed nothing else but the fsb..

My cpu score went up but all the other scors went down.

I will reboot and set back to 3Ghz and see if my score goes back up

I will reply with results after.

Has anyone seen this kind of result?
What do you think I might be lacking

The chipset strap changed. Rollback to see what happens.

I need to read up on This whole strap thing I have no clue what it means.

They didn't teach me anything like that when I got CompTIA A+ certified.....
but that was years ago...

For those that don't know what CompTIA A+. is I'm a certified computer technician.. basicly I can work on your name brand computer without voiding your warranty.... bla bla bla....

If you roll back and you win the points back, then I'm right. If not... it may be something else. It was just a thought.

I guess you lost a 1:1 ratio for the RAM:CPU?

I did a little reading and it seems that you need to underclock your chipset bus speed in order to raise the fsb that hi.

Am I on the right track?

Chipset bus=fsb

At certain steps while raising the fsb, the chipset mem controller latency increases so that it can accommodate the increase in FSB. This increases the memory latency and decreases the memory performance. It is only dependent on the Chipset frequency (fsb).
