No, you don't need Vista to use that card.

the 8600 will work with XP aswell.but you will not be able to utilize the dx10 capabilities of a dx10 card with XP,for that you will need vista which is dx10.

No, you don't. I have XP with the 8600GT, 158.24 drivers and they work just fine.

Alright thanks.

And I will probably go with an 8600. ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150229 )

And so my PC will be able to take this? And is that the best 8600 that I could probably get or is there a better brand?

Thanks so much!

Will it bring my graphics capabilities up substantially or will it not be much of an increase.

Also what is better XT or Pro?

And my price range is up to around $125.

Thanks.
XT is better, dont waste your money, if you're gaming, save your money, dont let it burn your pockets, if its light gaming, get a 320, med, get a 640, heavy 768, crazy sli-gtx or ultra, I suggest the 640 though.

I would get the Evga, but only because it's cheaper. Here's the one. Brand loyalty makes you pay more, get what's cheaper.

For 15$ you can pull the sliders yourself in the nVidia drivers. Still, they are good cards, any of them will serve well.

So if I get the EVGA I can like use the driver to make it better AND overclock it? Or is that what the driver is doing?
