7900 GS (vista) windows media player problems

Hi i just bought a Dell E1705 with a Geforce 7900 GS. I'm having a problem where when i open a video clip using windows media player it opens fine (really slow to load the video though) and will run all the way through, but if i try to go to halfway to the clip or backwards or whatever it will stay on the same frame or go black (even though the time counter continues). i contacted dell techsupport who told me to get windows media player 10 instead of the WMP 11 my computer came with (Vista 32) but guess what: WMP 10 doesnt work with Vista.

CRAP

So basically im wondering if any of you geniuses know how to get this problem with WMP solved. Is it a graphics card issue? is it a WMP issue? all the tech support people keep referring me to other organizations that give me the runaround and its super frustrating. I don't have that long to resolve this issue because my unit is deploying to Afghanistan in less than a month.

Oh. and also when i try to overclock using the NVIDIA control panel and adjust the settings on the memory and core it does the test, says it passes, then reverts back to "factory shipped clock frequencies (no overclocking)" another frustrating issue.

Im starting to rethink this whole Vista thing lol

more tech info on my machine: 2.0 ghz processor, 2gb ram.

thanks for the help,
Rob

Not sure about your WMP problems, you may need to optimize Vista, it is a resource hog even with 2 gigs on a lappy.
As for the GFX OC, Dell locked the Bios, so you will need to flash the Bios with an unlocked one. Link
