There are several servers down. I wouldn't worry about it; they usually get fixed quickly. (although, it is a holiday kinda.)

I had an issue last night where I was stuck at 6% for a few hours (forgot to check up on it and therefore wasted precious folding time). A quick reboot got mine going again. Of course, I didn't pay attention to any error messages.

I've left my SMP on all night and I've yet to download a WU. The regular console client is unable to download it as well, but it detects the IP address.

On the other hand, my sister is able to download the WU and fold.

I have also tried inputting the IP address of the servers onto my browser and all was OK.

If you are using SMP, you will need to be sure that the following settings are correct in your client setup. If you are not sure what your settins are, run the client with the -configonly switch and it will allow you to view and change your settings.

Use Internet Explorer Settings (no/yes) [no]? Must be set to NO
Allow receipt of work assignments and return of work results greater than
5MB in size (such work units may have large memory demands) (no/yes) [yes]? Must be set to YES
Change advanced options (yes/no) [no]? yes
Memory, in MB, to indicate (2047 available) [2047]? Must be set to at least 512
Set -advmethods flag always, requesting new advanced
scientific cores and/or work units if available (no/yes) [yes]? Must be set to YES

Having other settings than these can cause you to not get a WU assigned.

I don't get those on the SMP I downloaded last night. There seem to be new options.

-Minimize Networking - Get and submit work in batches.
-Ignore deadline information.

I think SMP have been updated?

Just for clarification, is this a SMP thing or just the work around for the IE7 issue?

I guess I should have clarified. It is a winSMP issue, and it is actually a bug that they will most likely fix or remove in the next version. This setting also does not directly cause issue with the downloading of WUs, but the uploading of the results. I just included it as a setting that can cause problems.

The ones that are likely to cause the 0.0.0.0 error are the 5mb WUs setting and the memory size setting. This is because the client actually tells the assignment servers the parameters of the WU it would like to get. If for instance you set your memory usage to 200, you will get the 0.0.0.0 error because there are no SMP WUs being assigned that meet that criteria.

Bit off topic....

Stanford is becoming more strict about there SMP WUs. It is in the best interest of the science for those that cant meet the requirements of SMP folding to donate using the other standard clients. As processing power on newer computers continues to increase, you will likely see SMP WU sizes increase, and timelines get shorter.

Its not that they dont want the help, they would just prefer that we use the client that is the best matchs the computer we are running.
