I guess I should have clarified. It is a winSMP issue, and it is actually a bug that they will most likely fix or remove in the next version. This setting also does not directly cause issue with the downloading of WUs, but the uploading of the results. I just included it as a setting that can cause problems.
The ones that are likely to cause the 0.0.0.0 error are the 5mb WUs setting and the memory size setting. This is because the client actually tells the assignment servers the parameters of the WU it would like to get. If for instance you set your memory usage to 200, you will get the 0.0.0.0 error because there are no SMP WUs being assigned that meet that criteria.
Bit off topic....
Stanford is becoming more strict about there SMP WUs. It is in the best interest of the science for those that cant meet the requirements of SMP folding to donate using the other standard clients. As processing power on newer computers continues to increase, you will likely see SMP WU sizes increase, and timelines get shorter.
Its not that they dont want the help, they would just prefer that we use the client that is the best matchs the computer we are running.
