Buying a new hard drive, but I lost my OS disks. What do I do?

Thread Starter
I'm planning to buy a 250 or 300gig HD, but I don't have any idea where my Windows XP disks are. What should I do?

P.S. I want to also wipe my old HD, are there any good programs to wipe it clean?(no viruses/bugs, a total clean sweep).

edit: How will I be able to install XP to a new hard drive if i dont have the disks? I don't want to bring over the old OS, I want to start it fresh.

Install Linux

Then use Linux to format your windows virus disk.
There are some programs that will move everything from one disk to another (migration) but I don't know much about them.

I think that is unpossible unless you want to DL a copy or borrow a disk from a friend. You have the original code so it will be legal. But you need to get a disk somehow.
If you don't have the code then you need to get a code reader to extract it from your registry first.

Yeah, As long as you have your license code, all yuo need is to download or borrow a disk. If you have a desktop from someone like Dell, then I believe the code is supposed to be inside the case on a sticker.

Do you have the product key?

If not, you're SOL
If you do, just download it. As long as you have the product key and are following the license agreement, it's legal, and you should have no problems installing and reactivating it.
