White lines running across LCD

Thread Starter
I just bought a new LCD, and every once in a while, always seems to be after I just turn it on, I get white lines flashing across the screen. Like a TV with bad reception or just going bad. Always just running horizontally, some lines a darker than others. It always stops, but is this a problem? It is a brand new Samsung 245BW 24".

I assume this issue didn't occur with your old monitor? This would eliminate a video card issue. Does this occur using the VGA cable or another DVI cable?

No, it didn't happen with the old monitor. And I didn't try a different cable, I am using the same DVI cable that I was using with the old monitor.

Definitely shouldn't be happening. The only other thing to try is installing the Samsung LCD driver. Otherwise, call them up and get a RMA just in case.

It does just seem to take a while to warm up, but I don't think that is what an LCD should be doing. Anyone else with a larger LCD have this? What about an LCD TV?

The LED or CCFL should "heat up" very quickly. The LCD matrix shouldn't need to heat up. Also, he said this occurs "every once in a while" so it is not that.
