give up E6600 for Q6600??

Thread Starter
i have the option of selling my E6600 for full retail price, and buying a Q6600 would only cost me the difference between the two processors ($300). the only problem is that the deal needs to be made within the next week or so, meaning BEFORE the pirce drop at the end of july. do i keep my E6600 (which i run at 3.4 stock volt and can stably hit 3.7+ with 1.5v) and save the 300 for something else, or make the trade and spend 300 to get a Q6600. i know the Q would most likely NOT hit that kind of OC, and games that impliment quad core wont be out for a little. so is it worth it or not to make the deal?

keep the e6600 and get the q6600 when the price drops then sell you e6600 on ebay it might only cost you $100 to upgrade then

I would say no just because games can't use it so for right now the e6600 would be more practical and effective for performance. However, a quad would give you some bragging rights. I would wait to buy a quad until the future chip design (Kentsfield, I think.) I have an e6600 but haven't had much time to play around with it now that I lapped it, but it is very high performance.

Yeah. I'd do that. The E6600 is only going to drop around $30, over the Q6600 which is dropping nearly $250.

The E should be just fine to support you through till Penryn drops, then you can reevaluate your situation

I would say no. The Q6600 is supposed to be $266 retail at the end of next month, you could just buy it outright and have BOTH for cheaper
Or get the Quad when the price drops and sell the Dually and save even more.

To begin with, the price drop is not confirmed. So if this deal is only a one time thing, I would go for it, because have 4 cores will be useful in the future, more then a dual core.
