A new hope

Our sources have confirmed that the K10 doesn’t have a TDP problem and at 1.6GHz the core runs at a very acceptable 32 degrees Celsius, even at full load. AMD will initially launch K10, Barcelona and Agena in frequencies of up to 2.4GHz, but the same core can go all the way up to 2.8GHz with the existing 65 nanometre process.

AMD will save these speeds to compete against Penryn, as at high clocks it will need it, at least until the company is ready for its 45 nanometre processors.

Even at 2.8GHz, the Thermal design Power from the K10 is at an acceptable rate and indicates that the K10 should be overclockable even beyond 3GHz.
We'll have to see if this actually pans out.... Stop the rumors and start showing some benchies!!!!

1?

cycle is the same thing as "clock"

I think you mean ops/cycle... and from what many people have said, it's never stated... even c2d's may not be 12 ops/cycle... *shrugs* i give up trying to figure it all out.

[edit] and more than likely it will be the "usual 9 ops per cycle" that AMD has been running.

Looking at your system specs I find you're statement to be pretty ironic.

Can i ask what your reasoning is behind this 'flop' theory?

They have just proven that it will do 2.4 and that it could reach 3ghz plus

Sounds to me that C2D has a competitor if it does the same amount of workload per clock.

That is ofcourse if they can nudge them prices down.

And them temps are amazing, i highly doubt that is with the stock HSF. What volts do these CPU's run on!

We'll have to see if this actually pans out.... Stop the rumors and start showing some benchies!!!!
This is an old AMD timeline.

They haven't proved they can work at 2.4Ghz. All they have proved is 1.6Ghz.

Intel said that Netburst would clock to 10Ghz. Never happened.

Core 2 Duo will be old news by the time this launches.

How do you suppose the Phenon is going to compete with Core 2 Quad Penryn priced under $250 and proven overclocks over 3.6Ghz?

Until AMD can demonstrate a 2.8Ghz Barcelona, show me the benchmarks, give me a release date, and pricing information I will remain sceptical.
