Compression Fittings verse Barbs and Tube Clamps?

I am debating whether to use compression fittings or barbs with a tube clamp on my new 8800 gts waterblock. Which will be less likley to leak and will either restrict flow?

What size tubing? Larger tubing use almost exclusively barbs since compression fittings that size are hard to find. Barbs tend to be better with a larger ID.

Compression fittings over 3/8" are kind of hard to find...They are supposed to increase flow because there will be less turbulence then with a barb and tube fitting....

Kind of in a roundabout way...Cathar just did calculations on tubing size and flow and the temp's with each....The 7/16" and 1/2" were both done on barbs...

The best compression fittings can be found at an air compressor supply or industrial supply store. The best of the best are totally stainless steel; by that I mean even the compression ring inside the fitting, and the friction ring between the compression nut and the compression ring are stainless steel. They are designed in such a way so they won`t cut the tubing on which they are tightened. These fittings are not cheap, though. However, they are as "bulletproof" as you can get when it comes to not having to worry about leaks.

im talking about 3/8" ID tubing. I have one set of barbs and one set of compression fittings. Im not sure which to use. It sounds like you guys think the compression fittings are a good choice?

Yeah compression fittings gives your flow a straight through shot....With barb to tube unions you have quite a bit of turbulence...You have to cut the tubing pretty straight for the compression fittings to seal right...No raggedy half chewed looking ends like I have most of the time...
