New HDD Partitioning Help

Thread Starter
Just got my new 400GB RE2 WD Caviar in the mail today(Thanks Transonic!), and I am wondering how I should partition it up.
I am basically thinking of making 1 partition for OS,games, etc and another for media such as music, videos, pics, and so on. Is this a good layout, and how big should I make each partition?
I wouldn't install two partitions just for dividing media and entertainment. And, it will require you to activate Windows twice, which will not work.

How would it if I treat one partition as just storage? You just format and than leave it be. I did it all the time before. The OS just sees a 2nd partition as a 2nd HDD, and it would make no sense if windows makes every person who has 2 HDDs activate twice.

i'd format it 100gb for the OS,games, programs and 300gb for the media.

That's what I was kinda thinking, think that I will be enough? I was kinda thinking 150/250 as well, just to be safe.

100 should be just fine for games and apps, I doubt you will ever fill that up unless your the kind of guy that installs everything he has ever owned.

Yeah, I was a little puzzled why he would think that, unless I eluded to actually installing the same exact OS on both partitions, which I don't think I did, and would also be, quite possibly, one of the worst ideas of all time.

Meh, I don't think I have that much, but I like to play pretty much all the games I own, so that comes down to:
CS:S
Dark Messiah Might and Magic
HL2
COD2
BF2
BF2:Special Forces
Doom3
MOHacific Assault
Vanguard SOH
And then my apps:
Photoshop
Nero
....those are the big ones.
