This is nothing new and will only continue in the future. But because it's GTA IV, it's garnering a lot more attention. Plus, $ 50 million is no small amount.
"extra" GTA 4 content, which the PS3 will more than likely get it's own content, cannot and will not dissuade people who want MGS 4, GT 4, GOW 3, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Killzone and so on....Also we don't even know if this content is free or not....and if it isn't why do we have to pay for more content?? Why pay for a console to only have to pay more for a game's "extra" content, and even then will the content be worth it(horse armor anyone?)???

See?

At least when Mike and I argue, we both know we have our own preferences. Our arguments may not end well but at least we both have a valid point.

You are outright calling the 360 an inferior product. You have no argument for that other than your preference for the PS3. That doesn't magically make something else inferior.

Enjoy your useless and inaccurate insults, fanboy.

There are plenty of exclusives on the 360 too but you are so obviously pro-Sony that you only mention the PS3 games because that's all you care about. That's fine but doesn't mean you are right, at all.

I doubt the content will be free, it never is, so there's no use in arguing over that. Shivering Isles was extra content that had to be paid. Plenty of games offer downloadable content nowadays. It's a rip off to us gamers but the game companies see that people are buying it and will continue to charge so long as they make money.

So a 360 is a "subpar console"? Obviously there is no point in even discussing games with you. You label the 360 subpar just because you prefer a PS3. That right there is blatant ignorance.

I never said I was right, nor did i say those games are Superior... I stated if someone(other than me) wanted those games, extra content in a gmae that is on a different system won't dissuade them one bit...
Obviously if they want Halo 3, Forza 2, PGR 4, and so on they would get the 360 either way.... Extra content in a multi system game won't impact the majority if even 1-2% of the people. Now if it was say MS adding a ton more features to Forza while Sony slighty improved GT 5 then THAT would make a difference in racing fans minds and move a few more 360's and not any PS3's. This "extra" content won't effect console sales....

Yeah and Microsoft gives away tons of free content too but that's not what this conversation is about.

I'm not even a GTA fan so I really have no opinion but have you seen the numbers GTA makes? In terms of games sold, profit, etc.?

The game is hugely popular and every exclusive that Microsoft and Sony make for themselves, they make knowing full well that it will do something.

Yeah they both have craploads of money to throw at their gaming divisions but they won't do it unless they think the return will be worthwhile. And over the next year or so, we will see how it pays for each of them.

Honestly i hated San Andreas and couldn't play it for long. I still like Liberty City/Vice City Stories yet those also get old quick. I probably would never buy this.

I just can't justlify 50 million for extra content that won't move consoles sales, and if it helps anything it would be the game's 360 sales compared to the PS3 version though they would never sell enough for MS to regain the money thru licensing rights...

Welp, all we can do is make our own assumptions and listen to the experts and analysts.

The fact that Microsoft is willing to pay so much for the episodic content shows that they think it will pay off with more game sales and/ or console sales.

We'll have to wait and see.

Sorry to go a little off-topic, but I don't see why PC gamers have to wait so long for the game... Why can't it be released at the same time or a month or two after the 360. It was the same with San Andreas, by the time I had got it on the PC, I had seen most of the content on my friends PS2, which kinda spoilt it for me.

Whats lame is that MS will become more tentative to the ESRB ratings and external pressure.

Trust me - the game with change if old billy goats has it in his pocket.

Do you realise how many people will see this, read the first few lines and instantly assume PS3 won't have any more content and jump up to buy an Xbox 360?
