Default Intel Heatsink/Fan

I am ordering an E6420 soon and I hope to OC it to 3.0Ghz. I am wondering how useful the stock heatsink/fan is and if i should spring for a better one. If you think i need a better one, please recommend it.

The stock heatsink with stock voltages will be good up till around 3 ghz. Anythign after that woiuld require more voltage (in most cases) which creates more heat. But I was using my stock HSF till 3.4 ghz and it worked. But I couldn't stress test becuase it would shoot over 60c. So anywa.. stock is good till about 3 ghz =D

It works if it's seated right, but it's a bit of a pain.

Read my mini FAQ! =D

you can get a GeminII for like 30 bucks, and its a great cooler. (provided you already have some fans, or the cost of those will add to the cooler)
EDIT: 34 bucks on newegg

AFAIK they also ship to Canada.

hah, we should all start a geminII club.
anyway, to get back on topic:
if you dont want the extra 500Mhz the GeminII can offer, you will indeed be fine with the stock fan. this is just a strong recommendation ;P
