Dell also has the Inspiron 1420/1520/1720 (first 2 numbers is the screen size), you can configure them similarly, but they cost a bit more than HP's I think.

EDIT: you can customize Dells and HPs on their US websites, though finding the one you really want in Finland might be hard because they might only have pre-built setups...
Yupp cant customize them overhere I looked at some laptops today but seing as I dont really know about Laptop GFX I didnt really know what to look for so I'm gonna post some specs

Cost: 1300€ over the budget but the 8600GT I think would game pretty good if it is anything like the 8600GT in my desktop but way over budget...

Acer Aspire 5920G

* 15.4" WXGA CrystalBrite
* Intel Centrino 2 Duo T7100
* NVidia GeForce 8600M-GT 256MB
* 2048MB (2*1024) DDR2
* 160GB
* DVD-RW SuperMulti
* WLAN 802.11N
* Dolby Home Theater
* CrystalEye webkamera
* HDMI, Firewire, S-video, Infrapuna
* Windows Vista Home Premium fin,swe,uk

Cost : 950€ cheeper not as good GFX but for wow I think it could play maxed settings lets face it it dosent require that muchand it has a bigger screen

Acer TravelMate 7514WSMI

NOT FOR SALE ANYMORE

Would love some input of those 2 above

How much is the Toshiba?

personally, I have zero experiences with laptops. But my friend's dad has had 4 Toshiba laptops die on him (dunno about the new ones). And I've looked at Acer laptops, and IMO their build quality is low... the keyboard flexed almost everywhere, the on/off switches for bluetooth and wifi looked like they were gonna fall off, etc. Of course, if the one you're talking about feels solid, go ahead.

IMO, if a 7300 is enough, stick with it, unless the 8600 has the same battery consumption. You might even consider a laptop with an Intel X3100, which can handle WoW. And if you can choose a model with less memory, buying a 2x1gig kit is often a cheaper alternative.

If those 2 are the only choices, I'd go with the Toshiba (if it's much cheaper than the Acer of course).
Have you checked the Dell and HP websites for Finland?

edit: does your friend care much for batteries? ask how long each computer will last. The Acer is Santa Rosa, which means better battery life, but the dedicated GPU takes more battery... IMO, processor speed is not an issue here.

hmmm don't know probably important the battrey life I mean gotta ask her tomorrow the toshiba is around 900€ but I found a HP in a local newspapper with sameish specs though it had a Nvidia 7400 GO for nearly the same price

Didn't find the Dell Laptop though... the finnish dell site only lets you look at office computers

From what I've gathered, Dell's products for business are of much better quality than their consumer products, so you might find something you like.

If you can find the HP, go for it
