Pentium D 820

Thread Starter
Well after having a quick read around on google it seems that it's quite hard to OC the 820 due to it's high temperatures. Just wondering if anyone here has the 820 and whether or not they've managed to OC?

I had increased mine from 2.8Ghz to 3.3Ghz, ran Prime95 and after about 5 minutes my temp has risen to around 63C, and from my reading that seems too hot for a Penitum D.

So I've notched it down abit, running at about 3.2Ghz, and Im running Prime95 now. Just wondering if anyone's managed to successfully OC to more than 3.2Ghz or if I should count my blessings I've got that much from it (fingers crossed). Plus I don't seem to be able to lower my vcore, which is at about 1.26, is this setting locked on 820s?

Thanks
My System

I've only ever gotten a 820 to 3.4 but I'm guessing its your board and not your chip thats the problem...and for gods sake put a real h/s fan on that poor chip before you abuse it!

You can go higher, you just need a better cooler. Go for a Tuniq Tower 120 or the Enzotech tower cooler. You should be able to get close to 4Ghz if you lap the cpu and cooler.
