AC97 problems

Hi

I have just reinstalled windows xp pro after wiping both my hard drives. The thing is, everything works but there is no sound. On the device manager it says under S, V and G controllers 'C-Media AC97 Audio Device' with a yellow exclamation mark. The comp always recognises it, so it can't be hardware, but whenever I install drivers for it (i don't have a disc) it says 'device can't start' and something about error 10. I don't know if i'm installing the wrong drivers or what, but i think it's integrated into my Nforce 2 motherboard.

Please help!!

You need to get the drivers online somewhere. The drivers for your mobo do not include the new AC97 sound druvers.

First check your Bios if your onboard sound is enabled, if that is the fact it must be eighter a borked driver or a shot mobo. Beeing you have a socket A mobo you can find the proper driver at the following url.
