(PICS) NITTEO's Watercooling Build Log *56k*

This is the Build log from this THREAD.

Items:
1x Thermochill 120.3 - Radiator
3x Yate Loon 120mm Medium CFM
2x Swiftech Stealth - Ultra's Block
1x DDCT01- Petras Custom Top - Pump
1x Dtek Fuzion - CPU Block
1x Danger Den Fillport
1/2 Tubing

FIRST STAGE: PREPPING and LEAK TESTING

1. Workbench + Items + Tools Prepped

2. Installing Petra's Custom DDC Top

3. Prepping the Case.

3a. First Mishap: TT Screw broke while removing it and the TT backplate is STUCK, I could not take it out.

4. Measuring and Cutting Tubing.

5. Cleaned and Completed Loop (without radiator) prepping for leak test.

6. Hanging loop outside the case.

7. Filling the loop and bleeding.

8. Jumping the PSU.

8a. Running the pump. Checking for leaks with paper towels.

SECOND STAGE: INSTALLING COMPONENTS
After the leak test for 16hrs, no leaks so I took the loop apart to dry and install into components.

1. Installing the Dtek Fuzion Screws.

2. By far the scariest part, taking the Ultra's apart.

2a. First Ultra done.

2b. Both Ultra's Done. The Swiftech Mosfet Heatsinks' thermal tape are CRAP. I left them off, pending the arrival of Thermal Tape I ordered from newegg.

3. Semi-done. I abandoned the use of 3/8 to 1/2 converters to bring the hose to the outside.

4. I bent the PCI slots to accommodate the 1/2 tubing. Waiting on the Rad to come in.
That T-Line Fillport will be standing "erect" when it gets supported.

5. Setting up to see how much tube to cut.

5a. Adding little rubber "feet."

5b. Installing it over the PC"

THIRD STAGE: IN CASE LEAK TEST/FILLING/BLEEDING

1. After Installing the Rad's tubing, prepping for leak test #2 with paper towels.

2. Filling and Bleeding

2a. Placing the Rad even lower to help the bleeding.

2b. Tilting the case so the Reservoir is the highest point. Sushi is optional.

Spicy Tuna Sushi FTW!

FINISHED!

Added some tube covers to complete the look.

Bringing it up to my desk...

Waiting for the new PC is a new Gateway 24 LCD HD!

This build took about 8man hrs over 3days. Your Critiques/Comments/Feedback appreciated!

8/07 NEW LOOP, NEW RAD PLACEMENT

> Rad stands up on its own, Push config with the fans to let cool air in. Going pull means I am getting hot air from the rear of the computer.

>New loop, fixed the T's for better flow. Red means PINK! I need to get more bottles to make it REDDER.

Close up of the loop.

> Nightshot of the new loop with RED Japanese Antifreeze from Petras.

Some notes/tips:

> Preparation is key. Run the build through your head. Use pictures and photo-shop/paint to plan your loop/loops.

> Do a dry run without cutting/uninstalling items in your case. Figure out where your pump is going to be, your loop route depends on it.

> Be patient. Take your time. Specially when taking apart VGA cards.

> Double/Triple/Quadruple check your tubing clamps + barbs are screwed on tight.

> Make sure the tubing route are clear from "hot" objects that can damage them.

> Have a bucket handy you can drain to. Just in case something goes awry.

> Sharp straight cuts on the tubing are essential.

> Paper towels are your friends. Also keep a bath towel around for a strong leak.

> Leak Test, Leak Test, Leak Test.

> Have fun!

That fatality case always gets to me not only because it looks nice but because its so expensive, but hey more glory to you.

Looks good so far but make sure you get some new airflow going because switching from a HSF to a waterblock will decrease the cooling those nb/sb coolers are getting as well as your ram.

I forgot to buy Distilled water for the "Red Japanese Antifreeze" from petras... I used the Dangerden Mct40 to leaktest. I might just stick with the DD even though its green...

you can go run to the grocery store quick and get the distilled water. seems like kind of a waste to use coolant on a leak test, unless you drain it into a bottle and save it or something

Be warned, the coolant smells funky.
