The dual-core optimizer fixes a problem between the intenal clocks of the 2 cores. It's not of great value, although it has helped some folks in gaming. It has caused problems for others. If you have trouble gaming with your new cpu, create a RESTORE point, download and install the AMD dual-core optimzer, and see if it helps. If it causes problems, just uninstall it. The Restore is just an added safety feature.

BTW, there is no need to install both Prime 95 and Orthos. Orthos is merely two iterations of Prime 95 combined into one program. Oh, and here's Superpi; it's a popular program for benchmarking the speed of your CPU.

It synchronizes both cores' time-stamp-counters,which is something I really don't understand.

If they are double sided use only 2 sticks, if they are single sided you can use all 4 (Thanks to Chosart for this info!)

ok, still not quite sure about single/double sided but that kinda helps, it may be better for me take my 2*512 sticks out and just leave the 2*1gb in..
