I just watched a video on this exact topic, and first of all STOP screwing with the drive. I would leave it alone until you watch this or you could damage it further and not be able to get anything back. Here's the link to the video, it shows a lot of great info for recovering data from HDDs, and how not to screw it up. Its an hour long, but I suggest only watching the first half hour, where the software retrieval part comes into play.

This guy does professional data recovery from damaged hard drives, so it isnt just some kid telling you to freeze your drive or something. He has a website that has some free software, I recommend checking it out.
this is a nice video but it started to skip in the middle

Is it plugged in?

It may have shock lose, because usually a bad hdd will have a slow post, or at least show up, but not want to work.

Also, Try moving around the sata cable, like from port 1 to 2.

If that dosen't work, put the drive in a bag, then in the freezer, then try, but that should be the LAST thing to try; it may screw it totally.

Good luck .

have you make sure the BIOS doesn't select the HD as RAID, config the option to make sure the BIOS see it as itself
