What do you suggest?

OK so i think i got it narrowed down to what notebook i want to get.

I'm thinking a HP DV2500t, a DV6500t, or an Asus G1S.

I like the portability and weight of of the 2500 for going to class. but i like the 15" screen of the 6500 and G1S for gaming. also i like the better graphics card thats in the G1S. All the computers will have 2gb of ram.

Does anyone know the batter life of the Hp's? i know the Asus is about 2hrs.

Also, how does the 8600m GT compare to the 8400m GS? I know there is going to be a considerable difference in the two but just how much difference will there be in BF2142? Im not really that versed in the new 8xxx line of video cards. Especially in notebooks.

I considered the Asus W7S but when i heard about the memory in it i decided against it.

One more thing, i have heard some good things about the newer HP's. About 6 or 7 years ago my sister had an HP and it was a pos. It was always being sent in for repairs. I dont want to spend $1600 on a HP and it be broke all the time.

Thanks guys.

The 8600GT is the middle of the midrange cards whereas the 8400GS is the "better" lowend cards(in other words, crap). Get the lappy with the 8600GT.

As for battery life, I'm clueless.

Yea the only reason the 6500t is on there is because its a little cheaper. The G1S is bigger than the 2500tbut has a better video card and these two will run me about the same price. I think i get a student discount through HP. I will check on that.

Does anyone know where i can get bigger battery for the Asus G1S? I can order a 12 cell batter with the HP.

Ok, so scratch the HP's. Crappy video.

Now i am trying to decide between the Asus G1S or the Macbook Pro with OSX/Vista or XP Dual boot. These are pretty similar machines. Same processor, same video card, and same memory. I am changing my major to computer science but im not exactly sure what we will be doing in later classes. I dont know if a Windows based computer is required or not. Thats why i suggested a Macbook with Vista

I can get the Mac on a student discount making it cheaper than the G1S by about $100-$150.

Ive never had a Mac or an Asus, only a Toshiba and a Gateway. My sister has a normal Macbook and she loves it.

I've been looking at what laptop to get for about a week and my head is about to explode. I never knew there were this many choices.

I would get the lightest 15in I could find. Some of the mac's have problems with bootcamp and windows (the 8600 will not work) so be wary.
