Should I OC my x1950Pro?

I know these cards don't OC well, but I am getting itchy fingers on it.
My old card, before I RMA'd it, kinda started messing up after I OC'd it, that could just be coincidental being that I took the OC off right after I did it becuase it caused some arifacting. This new card is running rock solid...

So, I'm thinking, with a stock temp like that, could I maybe attempt a small OC without worry?

yeah... but use ATITOOL, and not the Overdrive function. Overdrive loosens memory timings quite a bit, partly negating the effects of your overclock.

Get ATITOOL, set the fan at 100% at all time (I know, noisy, but live with it while you find good settings). Then slowly increase core (I prefer manually), and test for artifacts with the built-in artifact scanner.

The memory on the X1950Pro's do not OC much, core's OC fairly well though.

Use ATITool and make sure you OC using drivers!

Aye, I never use Caty's OC. Just use it to monitor temps. I just cleaned the cooler and GPU off and reapplied the thermal paste the other night, so the temps are dandy. Well, here goes nothing.
EDIT:
Anyone figure out how to use ATITool in Vista?

Try ATI Tray Tools with the x1950Pro series. It works a lot better. I found with it, that on ATI Tools I couldn't do anything to OC.. but with ATT I could OC quite a bit.. only thing is, you have to change overclocking method to Driver-Level for it to work properly.

That might change with different brands though, but it's worth a shot of OCing with ATi Tools doesn't work

It's a PITA card to OC IMO. Of all the X19XX cards this one fights you every step of the way. The benchmark gains I saw from OCing the card were pretty small.

But at stock speed and all it is still a great card. I love the quality of the image.

Dead link, but I got my X1950Pro off EBay, and although I had to RMA it, I basically got a brand new X1950Pro(since it was replacement RMA, not repair)for 140 dollars, can't beat that.
