Help with.. ok this is an odd one. Intel Q965 Mobo

Thread Starter
Ok I've been sifting through all the threads and noticed questions to which I could not even understand. SO here's an easy one for you guys. and I will allow each of you 5 minutes of laughter.

OK... this is my first Intel build GASP. I've built 2 AMD's before. Well I bought Intel's MQ965 Micro ATX mobo just for an extra little computer. Well I put an E6600 in and I want to overclock it. Well i went into the BIOS and saw NO WAY of doing it. Am i missing something or is there a software to use? I don't want to waste the power of this chip and leave it just at 2.4

first you have to set the clock or fsb options to "manual", then the options will open up for you to modify the FSB.

can you post a pic of the Main bios screen? I am not familiar with the bios in the Q965 but if it's anything like the P965, then overclocking options should be in the "Intelligent Tweaker" option tab.

The Intel boards for the most part don't support overclocking. You need to get a non-Intel made board, maybe an Abit IP35 like I've got or an Asus P5B or P5K series board.

Right you are. You can't up the FSB with an Intel board...you can overclock to like 10% max...but you probably won't get to that 10% overclock since Intel boards undervolt their Northbridge. Had the same problem when i first joined OCN.

If you really wanted to overclock the E6600, then I guess you could just return the mobo if you still are able to and get a new mobo. But like you said, if the computers just a little extra computer, maybe theres no need to overclock it.
