Quality headset for <£40?

Thread Starter
Hi, I made a post here a while back (before christmas) about needing a new headset, other things came up and so it got stuck to the back of my "to buy list". Now I have some money again and my old headset has completely died (Been working on 1 side for the last 4-5 months and now both have gone).

Now I know with a fairly limited budget (As well as the fact it has to be UK only) im not going to get any fantastic. However there are a few things I want. Its going to be used for gaming mainly.

-Good audio quality (Nothing amazing but no crackling or any obvious faults)
-Comfy (Nice padded ears and a padded headband)
-Good build quality (Last 3 headsets have broken, wires coming loose, stuff coming off etc)

Purchase wise it needs to be

-UK site/shop
-£40 really is my max budget, its pushing it at that so as much as its nice to know "For just £5 more you can get x which is so much better" I really cant unfortunately

Ive looked around a bit myself mainly based on suggestions I recieved before (Not sure how valid they are now) and have seen things like the Sennheiser pc150 (Which looks to be above my price range unless anyone knows a place to get it cheaper) and one of the cheaper versions. Also the icemat which ive heard very mixed reviews on. A lot of people are saying its great but its also having lots of bad comments towards its audio and build quality.

So if anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Ive heard it breaks very easily and very often as well as numerous complaints about the sound quality.

The same goes with reviews, some like the above rate it very highly, others cite problems with it and rate it fairly low.

As far as I know they are rock solid. You can try talking to chief321 (I don't remember his forum name) through aim: jsmetalman124 (he's away right now). He had Plantronics (or whatever) for a long time, they broke, he got PC150s, and he loves them AFAIK.

And, just because you told me not to, you could get new HD555's for around 50 pounds (I KNOW you don't think you can, but I have some, and they are sweet).

Ignore Mad. Do NOT get the Siberia. Onboard soundcard for the loss.. it would deem your X-Fi totally useless, lol.

Get the Medusa's. Brilliant 5.1 sound with some funky bass This is the headset that will bring out the potential of your X-Fi!

Onboard USB soundcard...*sigh*

As for the Sennheiser's, they're Binural. They emulate 5.1 without it being true 5.1. Spend a little more and get the Medusa's - you won't regret it
