Can You Overclock an Integrated Radeon Xpress 1150?

Thread Starter
I Have an Inspiron 1501 With 1 gig of DDR2 533, an AMD Turion X2 TL-56, and an Radeon Xpress 1150 on Vista Home Premium. It is a simalar integrated chip as the 200M but the 1150 has a 400 mHz processor speed compared to the 300 mHz 1100 and the 350 mHz 200M. Me and my friend have tried overclocking the 1150 with the ATI TOOL but it didn't work.

I mainly want to have better performance on 64 player servers on BF2. (the Framerates are steadily below 20fps ) The Counterstrike: Source Stress Test averages about 18.2fps. That is 1.5 frames lower than what I got before I upgraded to Vista from XP. Yet on both operating systems the frame rate does not go up when I turn down the details, shading, or texture (Is this a sign of bottlenecking?).

If overclocking the graphics card is not an option, I do know that vista is a memory hog. Would upgrading to more and faster RAM bring up the framerate?

Edit: It has 128mb on board and it it steals random amounts from my RAM. Currently about 256 mb is missing from my ram. which gives my graphics card a total of 384 mb (odd isn't it?)

No you cannot overclock the integrated card, sorry.

EDIT: If you wanna upgrade, you should upgrade the video card, its using some of your RAM and it will greatly increase performance in games.

That's sweet that onboard even plays BF2, let alone on 64 man servers.

Lol ive overclocked my stock integrated Xpress 200 series before to 650mhz core thats 300mhz over, and thats before i installed new motherboard/processor/video card though.

I wouldnt dare overclock it if you wasnt planning on replacing the motherboard\\

Oh and my computer proceeded to have like 500 artifacts and forced me to shut down when everything froze when i overclocked it that much.
Meh.

It's inter grated... so they usually come with a special specific heatsink built in. The only things to get better permanent cooling is replace the TIM and get a bigger/faster fan.
Once again...
