Sculldragger a very interesting idea. I had pondered not putting the plastic back on but at the same time there are a lot of holes in the case. Also the industrial idea sounds like a great mod to do with WC and since I have yet to touch any WC I think I’ll file that into the backlog of thoughts for future builds. You could make a case look sweet with the wires in conduit and water tubes running around. Also the metal part of the case is rather small. You lose about 1.25in in height and .5in in width than what it looks like assembled. Thanks for the suggestions and I am still working on a paint scheme or theme for the case. But I think that the paint will fall into place once I get it cut apart and see what it looks like.

Planning on remounting the power button and USB/mic on the front panel just in a new location and all together.

All ideas welcome and the case is going to go under the “knife” in an hour.

Well I got the side window and intake fans cut out as planed. To make the fans fit I had to eliminate two of the four 3.5in drive bays. I figure 2 will be enough. Maybe it is the heat getting to me today, but I am starting to see potential in the case. After taking a hard look at the mobo tray I think that I’m going to have to buy a mobo to mock it up. So the question is do all ATX mobo have the same hole pattern? If so does anyone have a burnt up board that I could use for mockup purposes? I don’t have any extra boards laying around and really don’t want to buy a working board to mock up this mod because of the high amount of trial and error that will be done to get it to fit. Or does anyone have a better idea on how to do this. I will ponder it over the weekend because no work will get done on the project since I will be traveling for work, figures just as I get started. O well much progress is being made and hope to see some helpful ideas for the mobo tray. I will post any ideas that I come up with while away.

The Dell mod has been put on hold due to many other projects that I have been working on. I started it thinking I would have plenty of time, but then my brother calls me up and tells me he is have problems with his computer and can I help him with it. So after a few hours on the phone and some remote desktop work I decided that I cant figure out the bug. So I drive home and reformat and update all of his drivers and software. Then set him up with a bunch more software to keep his system in check. First reformat for him and the computer in 2 years old so it was about due. Any way I hope to make some progress later on this week but with the holiday I don’t know what I’ll get done.

Smee

I like this idea BUT BACKWARDS.

I am thinking, instead of modding an apple G5 case I should get my hands on an old Dell desktop and make my rig look like a "SLEEPER." LOL..

Imagine going to a LAN party and people would see my case and be like "Loser with a DELL" then open the side doors and say "BAM!"

Yeah, lol act like a jerk and say your dell has a godlike ATi x300se and pretend it sucks and make some bets on a 3dmark competition.

Would destroy all competition if you put in your sig rig

good luck with the case mod whenever you get time to do it. you might want to add a 56k warning to the title, it's a 10+meg thread!

Well this case will be a slight sleeper but I think people will still know once they see it that it probably isn’t stock. I really hope to get some more work done on this case, but it seems like every thing else needs work right now also. Plus I am trying to save up for an 8800 to go with my c2d and spending money doesn’t help with that. But it will progress slowly but surely. My plan as of now is to tackle these three ideas in this order. First the blow hole, second the plastic sides, then third the front. I can get all of the fabrication work done with out spending any money it is once I get to components that it will be a challenge. Well back to work.
