Ultra 120 Extreme, Temp Issue? - Page 5

I have both the Ultra 120 and the "extreme" version and dispite the fine looking finish each was either slightly concave or convex. So, you may want to check yours out and lap it if necessary!

I will agree with grunion...I dont know that the tricools push enough air at a high enough density...

Try for something with a little ooooomph (I have an FM121 on my ultra in a push config....turn it down when idling and jack it up on load....)

For all of those that are waiting on a final outcome...Best setup I could come up with was to put the hs back in its original horizontal position and attach an aditional 120mm on the other side to pull air while the other pushes into the top mounted 200mm and leave the 120 x 38 on the side panel.

Full load with orthos (small fft's) at 300mhz x 10 is between 39-41c. See attached. Now my problem is that I have one of the most stubborn cpu's on the planet. It just doesn't wanna play nice at all. If interested. I'll be starting another post on this soon. See if I can't get some opinions from everyone. I'm getting some screanies ready.

No, this cpu is really volt hungry and wouldn't boot with under 1.325v. Currently, I'm at 320mhz x 10 at 1.3875. See this post:

those temps are by no means extreme...I think if you are looking for better performance than that you can either a)go with a higher CFM fan or b)consider liquid cooling...

still your OC looks to be coming along nicely...and temps really are within limits

Hello Poser:

Yes, those are decent. Also went up to 320mhz x 10 and still at or below 42c! Good stuff. Now to get my cpu to quit being so darned stubborn and here's the kick in the but. One of my sata's just quit (will rma but have other drives in the interim). Thanks.

CRAPOLA....

Did you have your array imaged (acronis, norton ghost...etc)???

Its never fun losing data.

Just remember....your CPU is only one component in your OC. Find that max in your MOBO and RAM, so you can figure where your limiting factor is. Also, "the devil is in the details", mastering some of the more discrete BIOS settings may unlock more MHZ

No didn't have them imaged but all is good now. Just put together with 2 Hitachi 500gb in raid0. best I get so far is 320mhz x 10. Ram is functioning below its max so no limit there. Vcore, even at this low an oc is set at 1.3875 in order to remain stable. Its my stepping, I believe, takes lots of juice.
