So which one of these coolers would you recommend? I'm not buying online I'm buying at a local store and they are both about the same price and they are the best ones they have there so which one to get? I know the big typhoon is a beast, does the other one compare much in performance?

Get the big typhoon, it's a better sink.

big typhoon is definitely better and has more potential to improve from stock with a good lapping, new fan, etc.

Have you used the V1? Most people are amazed at the big typhoon. but the v1 is 100% copper and uses a similar design that the tuniq tower utilizes. After installing mine my idle temps are down to 20c and load with overclock to 3.6 never goes over 37c. The benefit of all of the hot air being exhausted outside of your rear exhausts is a huge plus.
