What speed will a 9500 run at directly connected to the mobo as opposed to the fan mate 2?

Yup. Make sure that all fan speed control is disabled in the BIOS to get full speed from the headers.

I use SpeedFan to control mine. Never have it above 60% (2000RPMs) otherwise, it does get a little loud!

Good advice for a Windows user I don't use Windows much. Linux WAY more.

My 9500 at full speed is around 2700 RPM, I use Core Center to automatically control the speed, it runs 1328 most of the time & ramps up as the heat rises.

Maybe I'm a little more picky about noise! I dunno, but I can hear the whoosh from mine at those RPMs
