I Can't Hear My PC! - Page 2

Well, my PC officially sounds like a hair dryer again

Summer with no AC means that my GPU starts overheating. First with R6: Vegas and HL2 E1, which I could understand. But today it locked up playing source - time to do something about airflow. CPU fan -> exhaust fan, FM121 back on my cpu. I dunno how I used to live with this thing

Aw! That stinks! I love having a quiet (if not silent) PC too.

One thing that helped me get enough airflow and still be quiet was to cut more and bigger holes in the case. Quiet CFM comes by large holes and slow fans as opposed to smaller holes and fast fans.

i bet my roommate will love it next month. at UW-Madison dorms are pretty small since there are so many people

used to be ~70dB, when i had a really nice but older setup, northy 2.4 at 3.2GHz but no GFX or anything, just a PCI slotted mobo and the CPU.

That's insane....no reason a PC should be that loud nowadays, not even an overclocked system.

20dB? thats lower than any PC i have seen other than maybe yours because you only have 2 fans in your whole case....your PC is probably close though. Its whisper quiet...all i hear is a tiny bit of whooshing

OHOH you meant what i used to have. yeah i needed it....seriously. either that or a better HSF. and i had no $ so modded masscool is what i had to use

Heh - not happening with this Lian-Li. It's hard enough for me to justify spending $200 on a case without hacking holes in it .

Compared to before, my pc is like a jet engine! It use to be silent until I put in a Silenx 120x120x38 90cfm as intake. Then again, I'm running it without a fan controller so it's at full speed....
