Connecting to network, But no internet connection

Thread Starter
Hi all.

I am connecting to my router. It is fully connecting to this computer - But when i connect to my router with the laptop, It connects to the NETWORK but does not offer me a connection to the internet.

What are the possible fixes? I know there are many, Any common ones which everyone makes a mistake with?

Thank you.

That's a puzzler. You MAY have to go back into setup and change the configuration to "allow" another connection. I just received a new router from my isp, and during set-up, it asked me if I was trying to hook-up the primary machine, or additional machines. I set up the primary and then there was no need to set up any additional connections, but it may vary by router.

two words .. Default Gateway ... assure that you have a default gateway and that it is the same as the IP on the router or the outgoing IP to your ISP. (ipconfig /all from a cmd prompt). also have you tried hooking up a land line from the router to the lappy and see if it will connect this way?
