$2300 Build - Page 2

Thread Starter
I was told about the quad price drop so I will wait for that. I'm interested in the Armor or Antec 900, not too sure which yet though. 8800gtx for sure. I have $2300 dollars exactly so money isn't too much of a problem.

CPU:Q600
GPU: Evga 8800gtx
Case: Antec 900 or Thermaltake Armor
Mobo: -Not a clue-
PSU: -Not a clue-
SC: -Not a clue- *But is it needed?*
RAM: G.Skill maybe still not sure
Heatsink: Ultra 120
Monitor: -Not a clue-
Keyboard: -Eclipse looks nice-
HDD: -Not sure-

If I'm missing anything else please tell me. Also, none of this is final. I'm a lost sheep here, and thanks for the help so far.

As for sound card...do you listen to music? Because if you do I would get X-Fi and a decent set of speakers and BAM!

Yeah, his builds are law.

Anyways, I would go with a P5k board if you are going to buy a Q6600. Although I'm not too sure if you should get P5k or a P5k Deluxe; don't really know the difference besides wifi.

Asus P5K Deluxe

Asus P5K

Hope it helps

I'll help you out with what I know, Intel parts are not something I know.

PSU, 750w PC Power and Cooling. Buy from Tankguys since it helps the site and they are $20 cheaper than newegg

I would say you need a soundcard because you play violin and would probably be able to hear the difference between a soundcard and onboard sound. Creative is known for their horrible drivers. M-Audio also makes good sound cards, I don't know much about sound cards compaired to some of the audiophiles on this site. Anyways heres two cards, one from creative:

For a monitor, the best price point right now is for a 1680x1050 22" panel.
All of these are good screens, personally I'd grab the Samsung:

The Samsung

For hard drives, you want a pair of Seagate 7200.10 drives. 320gb and 16mb of cache for $80 shipped each:

I would suggest the Armor case as it's huge, easy to work with and strong.

For a keyboard I would suggest the G15 or the G11 (G11 = G15 w/o a screen) as they feel great and are stronger than the Saitek.

Grab a G5 or Deathadder or Copperhead for a mouse, and a set of Z-5500's for your speakers.

Haha

uhh

what?
1. Why would you pay that much for ram?!!!
2. Why would you need a RAID adapter? Especially one that expensive???
3. Blueray... highly overrated and definantly not a good idea at the moment
4. Omg why that case??? It is EXTREMELY overpriced!

Did you just do a search on the most expensive (useless) things on newegg and add these?

I'm not meaning to sound critical, but seriously, if I had an unlimited cash source I wouldn't buy those. Giving him such a expensive rig could drive someone away from trying to work with them.
