whats your room temp?
Those temps can't be right. You will almost definitely get better temps and a better overclock with a good cooler.

Until my recent experiments with my now naked LCB9E Opteron, I might have agreed with you. But this chip has an interesting characteristic (supported by screenshots which I'll provide later).

Core 0 on my chip has a delta T of only about 3-5 degrees C from idle to load. Of course, it idles at about 42-44 degrees C, and loads at about 49 degrees C maximum (after a fresh re-seat and a two cent mod that I'm still testing). It's a behavior that I've never ever observed before.

Core 1, in contrast, has a delta T of around 10-12 degrees C. That's still quite small, actually, but not as small as observed in Core 0.

Both cores peak at 49 degrees C, with sustained temps of about 47 degrees C. At peak load, both cores report similar temperatures (with fluctuations, Core 1 is consistently slightly cooler than Core 0 (by about 1-2 degrees C).

I think it's therefore possible to have a CPU report such a small delta T between idle and load conditions.

Load temp refers to running a CPU intensive program like ORTHOS for many hours, stressing the processor to it's max.

If you're idling at 25-26° then your load with a stock heatsink is going to be mid 40s or higher.
And that's with the "once-in-a-lifetime-near-perfect" HSF seating

"Delta" is a term used to designate "change." So, "delta T" signifies "change in T (or, Temperature)."

Hope this helps!

For your CPU right now, an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro would probably be enough; a Thermaltake Big Typhoon would be great, and would give you room to grow if you ever decide to go the dual-core route.

Almost any Thermalright would also do great.

Hope this helps!
