Np man..

Lets see if we can get that P4 any higher, and completly stable.

That + your new RAM should have you a faster PC ^_^

I think the athlon would be faster. The Athlon 64 architecture is better than the P4 architecture. Among other things, and unless I'm mistaken, the athlon 64 does 9 ops/cycle whereas the p4 does only 6/cycle.

I'm going to bed. If you say something, I'm not gonna be here to reply . So goodnight!

Hey dskina I see you lurking! Gonna say something? .

Crap! I overlooked (sort of) what mobo you had!
what I was saying was assuming it was a SKT 462 version.. (which Is why I asked what mobo it was in the first place
-please forgive my assumptions.

(thanks for pointing that out Ragnaraok)

Yeah, he may be right, (I would definatly go for the 3000+ myself )

Let me check up on THAT chip lol.

Yeah I was thinking that the AMD would be faster, so if you have any ideas about overclocking it or any other suggestions that would be great

So its a socket 754 chip.
lets hear what the other members have to say.

but I'm still sceptic as to whether or not this chip will outperform your PIV

It certainly cant be OCed to reach the P4s MHZ, so the only question then would be if the chips architectural advancements would compensate for its difference in speed...

which I'm leaning to think - NO.

I'm postive your chip has AT LEAST 256k of on-die l2 cache (perhaps even 512 - which you should check out using CPU-Z) compared to the sempron's 128.
It has the same FSB speed of your P4 (800MHZ) if I'm not mistaken (correct?)

it acutally runs at 1.8GHZ.

Sure, its 64bit, but my input is, I dont think it will beat the P4.

I'll be waiting you help you OC whichever when you decide

Well we can try OC'ing my p4, but I have tried before to not much success. I may need to download some programs to tell me temps and stuff if you can help me with that and link me it would be great.

Don't P4's OC really well?
The 3000+ runs at 2Ghz.

The easiest way to see which one is faster would be to run a benchmark on both of them. Try 3dmark01SE since it's a small download and we only need it for comparison's sake. You both have the same video card it would seem.

That Athlon will smoke a P4 2.4Ghz, overclock that Athlon to say 2.6Ghz and you're laughing.
