Need to Identify a CPU...please help.

Thread Starter
Okay, I managed to get a Dell Dimension 4700 motherboard with an Intel socket 775 CPU for free through my work. upon removing the pathetic Dell cooling tower aparatus from the CPU I discovered something I had never seen before on a chip....TWO different speeds stamped on it!!! ***????

One stamp is horizontal and reads as follows:

INTEL 03
Pentium 4
3.40Ghz/1M/800
SL7J8 MALAY
L423A813

To the right of that printed vertically is:

3.20Ghz/1M/800
SL8BY/MALAY
L423A813T

This is straight out of a stock Dell Dimension 4700. Can anyone tell me what I am dealing with and why this thing has two speeds on it? Is this a Prescott? The Motherboard is crap, no features at all, but it does have an x16 PCI-E slot so I can backslide my way into a nice 8800GTX powered platform for basically just the cost of the card. However, when I swap the Dell board out for a nice Asus SLI board, I want to have a better understanding of what is up with this chip. It too will eventually be replaced with a C2D, but for now it's a way for me to retire my AGP system and enjoy the 8800. I just want to know for sure what this chip is before I start trying to push it...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

SL8BY/MALAY
L423A813T

and not something else as an ID then you have an P4 550 3.4 since there is no SL8BY in this world XD
