Fan wiring help needed

Thread Starter
Hi to all

I want to add some more case fans to my rig, at the mo im using an 80mm exhaust fan and have a 120mm front fan blowing across the hard drives (the yellow wire has came out the molex on the 120mm so will need some advice on how to fix it too)

The fans i want to use are quite old fans from two old servers but they do work.

They all use, bar one, the 2-pin plugs but have red and black wiring.
The other is a 3-pin plug which i assume will work either in a fan controller or off the sysfan port on my motherboard.

My question is, how can i rewire the 2-pin fans so run off a fan controller or even from a molex.

The controller i have is a nexus vantec nxp305

get some 3-pin connectors, and put the wires in them. if you cant buy them seperately, buy some fan extension cables.

I'm pretty sure you can just cut off the tabs on the plug and plug it in correctly.

Do you mean split the plug in half so that each lead still has its 'plug' attached and connect them that way?

he said you should just MAKE it fit. AKA Cut anything in the way of connecting the 2 pin.

Umm, why are you running a gig and 256 ddr?

I had the 256 stick lying around and when i built this rig i just threw it in, if anyone has a 1GB stick needing a new home i'd be much appreciative lol
