i hear ya.

i tried 450 fsb, it would post at 3.62, but failed to boot into winblows.... so i lowered it to 440, and it booted. its @3.52 right now!

my temps are also high at this point. i may need to reseat my waterblock, as they should be lower, with my old 2400+mobile clocked to 2.6 ghz i would get 47 c max.... here im getting around 50 c and my vcore is still relitively low. (1.42)

ill stop at this point and redo my waterpump mounting (rubber isolators) and hook up the rest of my case fans, i only have 1 running in the front now and my fan on the rad. i may configure something to cool the ram....

first a nap, i coulnt friggin sleep last night. (hung over)

thanks for all the tips, and i cant believe how well these things OC. i was afraid that the new stepping (L712a) would be a poor oc'er, but apparently not....

Good to hear man! You're doing great. The farthest I got my e6600 to so far is 3.2GHz, haven't had time to even push higher yet... I've been working so much lately, just recently moved too, and just plain busy.

I was worried about stepping on my e6600 as well, I think mines a 649 or something to that effect (one of the newer ones).... but with a little effort I hope I can get similar results. I'm idling at about 28C stock right now, so hopefully I have a lot of headroom.

I have to get some sleep here as well. It's about 5:30am and haven't gone to bed yet... no work today so I guess I'm okay. I'm gonna install the lights on my rig and fire it back up later - hopefully do some oc'ing.

3.2 is nothing to sneeze at! and your temps are very good......

i just tried a sisoft cpu stress test and it failed :-( sooo..... i upped my vcore a notch to 1.43, or 1.44.... and it booted right back into windows, ill get a nap, then for the day, im working on the house.

building a new attached garage with floor heat! gonna be a busy day.

hopefully by 5:30 pm, ill be done what needs to get done, then finish off the pc build. then ill see what this thing will crap out at.... maybe ill get 3.7? prolly not a stable oc, but post anyways.

You have rather high temps for having an aftermarket hsf. You should perhaps reapply thermal paste and reseat your hsf.

I'm working my pc 24/7 at 3.48ghz with STOCK COOLING it idles at around 39c with nice ambient temps and under load 54c. I thought my numbers were high.

Edit: I did not realize you have watering cooling. Daaamn, very bad temps for water cooling. Maybe you should try stock hsf and getting better temps...lol. JK. SEriously though, those are very bad temps. Somethings wrong w/your cooling...or case. Bad airflow?

I have an E6600, P5K Deluxe, and G. Skill HZ's. I'm hoping to run:

500FSB; DDR2-1000, 4-4-4-12-2; 3000MHz, 500x6.

If I cannot run DDR2-1000 stable with my ram I will run a 1:1 ratio with 400FSB. Probably 400FSB and a 6 Multiplier for stock speeds in a 1:1.

The only thing you can do to improve speeds is to raise the vCore, and, with a Water Block I would not be too worried about temps unless they pass 50 or 60C.

im using a tdx block designed for socket "A" cpu...... and i have no fans running right now except for 1 in the rad.

my ambient temp is scorching hot in the pc room. i will be installing air-con this afternoon, and rewiring the case, adding 2 more fans, i will also reseat the waterblock cpu.

and remember, im running vcore of 1.43v.....

I'm so pi$$ed off right now!

Just installed a ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro and my pc idles at 45c. The room I'm in is also very very hot...it's 30c! Before w/stock hsf, it actually idled 1 or 2 degrees higher or lower. I've already reapplied arctic silver 5 and reseated my cpu....same da.mn temps!

Oh, tha'ts not the worst of it. I tried to run Orthos...got the "fatal errors....hardware problem" thing. That's with Orthos running for only 20 seconds. I'm so disappointed and I am just about ready to reinstall my stock hsf.
BTW, I'm oc'd to 3.45
