Hi , I am putting in a chaintech 7.1 card and need to know which connecter I hook the cd audio cable to? There are 2 4 pin spots on the top corner of the card . they are not labelled thought. would it matter which one i use? One is green ,one is black.......... Anyone?

You should be able to get the audio over the IDE cable. You don't have to use the cables anymore. I really never wondered if it helps to have it though. Does anyone know anything about this?

Don't worry about. It's generally not needed anymore.

I don't know why it's not needed. In XP, go into Control Pane> Sound and Audio Devices> and change all of your sound devices to the preferred hardware.

Ok.... I installed the card yesterday. It worked fine no probs. Listened to music ,PC game etc.... Today I turn the speakers on and there is this deafening high pitch squeal coming out of them... I also get a static sound ing hiss out of them once in a while....***. I Hooked the CD audio cable to the black input on the card. I disabled all the Mobo sound... All the setting 's look fine in the audio deck panel... I s there something I am missing here?

I reinstalled the drivers and that seemed to get rid of whatever was causing the interference... The driver version I have is 5.12.1.3650
Does this make any sense or do I need a better driver?
