Maxtor Incompatibility? - Page 2

I'm tired and frustrated so I'ma leave it I don't think it's possible I've loaded the floppy with the files, it copied them but didn't make any difference. I would love to blame the maxtor disk, I'm not too keen on them anymore. I'm just going to go and install xp on my sig rig with 2 WD HD's in RAID0 hope it goes better than this has..

Just make sure you have the Sil controller is enabled in the bios, and that your hard drive is connected to one of the four SATA connections at the bottom of the board. I had the same headache with the issue... Sorry I wasnt more help!

Send Maxtor an Email demanding them a new firmware and flash the HDD. IMHO you should change that HDD with any other brand.
Uhh, then take a look at my sig. It went flawlessly.

Get this straight.

maxtor, and Seagate are the 2 most long-living drives out there to date.
NO THIS.
WD only has their fancy "technology".

Anywho, back on topic.

your HDD will not "fry"

I would reccomend some tries.
But it seems you've already decided on YOUR solution :/

--

I bet its just some 3rd party drivers that you need as our friend above there though.

So long as it was IDed in bios fine, I doubt it would be any settings there.

You should fool around with how the bios acceses the drive though -
whether uses LBA ect..

I wish you luck.

I extracted the attached drivers from an NF3 Install file. You could try these and move the connection up to the SATA connections above the AGP.

Cool thanks, I'll try them tomorrow!
My DVD-RAM drive just died!!!!!!! baaghh
I hope its still under garantee.
I mean, I have been trying to get the sata drive to work for that pc, then I had just finished sorting out the RAID config ready to install windows on my sig rig and then I find my DVD-RAM drive doesn't respond, show in the bios or turn on when I start the PC. I tried it on the other PC but just had the same thing.
Luckily my dad bought the same drive in january, so I might be able to sneak my may 06 drive under garantee.

haha.
Well, put it this way

With the exception of the CPU and RAM. EVERYTHING in my PC is Parts that people threw out as "dead" lol

Take my mobo - was completly "Shatted", - but a few replaced capacitors, and bridged resistors did the trick ^_^

who knows - perhaps its just the "socket retainer" as my friend calls it, of the CDROM drive (the part that the power chord goes to) that it loose from the circuit of the CDROM drive, or something like that.

If you're in for a lil adventure/learning process, and the RMA doesnt work out.
Chances are, yes, we can fix it ^_^ (if its something simple).
