Videogaming may become official addiction - Page 4

No worries here, I know I'm addicted to many things, Games, Coke ( the soda...) and as a new addition my new Nitro Truck, but its no big deal. I know how/when to stop. Like if I feel like throwing said truck through a window. Things like that.
'bout time.

I kinda agree BUT ONLY pertaining to WoW.. you never really hear people having problems with anyother type of video game besides WoW.

But they probably have never even touched a computer game let alone played one so they will lob "video games" together neglecting the different genres that give games their funness.

I think its such BS how much society bashes computer games then they say "well you didnt hear about this when i was a kid" Well all you had as a kid was a $20k computer not even as powerful as my handheld calculator so how is that a comparison.

My mom thought i had a problem when i spent maybe 4 hours on the computer, then she read a few articles where kids were spending 7-10 hours so she backed off.

The Anti-Videogame people also need to realize that LCD screens will NOT make people addicted as much as the CRT screens did. As the flashing of CRTs screwed with some peoples brains.

Guild Wars, Evercrack (quest) One dude has died so far playing GW for too long , like five days straight or something. And I think it was a dude who played Everquest who shotgunned himself in the mouth (literally) Because his friend sold off a sword. Or something to that effect. :/

you know what I used to play games 24/7 online too but I was able to control the way I felt, but still I do blame games for not passing class, or should I blame myself? I think so

dude i so agree with you since i had the same problem when halo 2 came out and i had xbl...i would play nonstop almost, sure i wasnt turning in homework and stuff but i still passed my tests which is the way it should be...pass your tests and you pass the grade...sure i have to admit i played halo 2 for atleast 10hrs a day for a year, and now after like 2 years later i can barely play the game without getting bored within 10mins which is the same for every other video game. Like some ppl already stated its a matter of self control, video gaming isnt an addiction its a habit that anyone can stop if they would just stop and go reading an interesting book or 2. Sure i maybe 16 now but after my halo 2 rampage playing i can easily control my playing of any video game...unless its with a friend and killing things

Thus, I hereby declare you WoW Addict. No, really. Video gaming hardcore is one thing. Addiction is another thing. I love gaming, but if I got to go 3 weeks without gaming in order to be responsible with my work, then so shall be it. No mood swings, which most likely always mean a addiction has formed.

So, as said prior, heavy gamers who CAN control yourself, don't take up arms. Video gaming can become a addiction, and if you can control yourself then most likely you're in the safe base.

EDIT: To the prior poster, 12 hours of real life time per week is nothing. Try paying bills, going on social life and doing everything a normal human being can do. You can't...

Maybe if you're 12...

Also playing more than 3 hours in a row is an addiction. Hell, Guild Wars starts giving you messages after you've played 2 hours in a row. 3 hours or more in a row...no leak, no drink, no phone, no tv = addiction.
I don't really think you could call me an addict... I vacate alot to the southern, without any computer and I do fine.
