Intel Build For $800-$900

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I'm putting together a rig for a friend of mine at work, and I'm asking for suggestions on components. I need a complete system:

Case + PSU
Mobo- Nothing fancy, but a good board.
CPU- A Good 775 Dual Core.
RAM- 2 Gigs
GPU- DX 10 compliant
HD
DVD Burner
OS- Vista

He wants to be a gamer, but is pretty much computer illiterate. He won't do any overclocking.

Thanks for the help.

CoolerMaster Case $50.00

XCLIO 500W PSU $50.00

Gigabyte Modo $100.00

E6320 Core 2 Duo $165.50

A-Data 2GB $83.00

8800GTS 320 $280.00

Samsung 400GB $90.00

LG DVD-Burner $28.00

Vista Home Premium $90.00

Uhh, I think this sets you a little over 900 but you can drop down to an 8600GTS or an E4300 instead of an E6320.

That's Vista Home Basic

Vista Home Premium - $111.99

You also have an ATX board going into a Micro ATX case.

This case would be a better choice.

I went just a touch over $900 but managed to squeeze in an 8800GTS:

Case - Coolermaster Centurion 5 - $49.99
Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 - $119.99
Processor - C2D E4300 - $117
RAM - G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ - $84.99
GPU - eVGA 8800 GTS 320MB - $279.99
PSU - XCLIO Goodpower 500W - $49.99
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB - $74.99
DVD - DVD Burner - $33.99
O.S. - Vista Home Premium - $111.99

Total before Shipping - $922.92

If you absolutely had to you could drop down to an eVGA 8600 GTS for $174.99 bringing you in at $817.92 before shipping.

Your friend could always use eVGA's Step-Up Program if the 8600 does'nt work out for him.

Yeah, sorry about the case/mobo, I just meant to post examples, cases should usually be chosen by the future owner because its mostly about looks (and cooling).

Total Cost: $903.92 + Shipping and Handling
Optical Drive
Computer Case
Hard Drive
Video Card
Power Supply Unit
Memory
Motherboard
CPU/Processor
Operating System

For the processor, I just chose the lowest, but since your friend is not going to overclock, I would pay a bit more for a better processor. ^^;
