I just did... and I got to a DOS prompt screen...
Yeah..type 'fixboot'...it should search for the windows file and 're-connect' it to your OS. You shouldnt even need the disk...you need to press f8 to hit the advanced start up menu.

Thx alex. Charger has him in the right direction and your advice was also solid. He should be able to recover providing it's not hardware related.

Ohhhh.... I was wondering if that might be why it couldn't see it but with the other two USB options enabeled I thought it might have been some fancy USB deal that wouldn't be needed... I'll try that next if Fixboot doesn't work

Yea... I was just trying to gain time... BTW... I ran Orthos (CPU and RAM combo) with my 3.15GHz and uninked RAM at 800 with Auto timmings and it was fine... then right after turning it off I tried 4-4-4-12-1T @ 900 (I previously ran it at 950MHz stable) but it froze the computer after 2min 40sec...

Yea... I tried Dir but it gave me an error... so I did E:which is the XP-32 RAID (I think I was in the Media Center with all HDDs plugged in? don't remember...) and I was ale to get the E: prompt but once again Dir didn't work

Hey Alex! Where did you go on vacation?

1= Didn't do that...
2= Done
3= Ok, I will first thing when I fix this and get back to OC'ing
4= That's how I update, done
5= Yes, I've been doing that now
6= Yup... probably the best single piece of advice that could be given for any problem
7= Ok... I think I need to try that too
8= goes together with 6

I say I have to try 7 too because I got into the DOS prompt again and I can get all the prompts, A: B: C: D: E: F: G: and this is what I find under them with Dir

A: NOTHING
B: Floppy
C: NOTHING
D: NOTHING
E: NOTHING
F: NOTHING
G: Optical

I will try to enable the Legacy USB option first to see if like that Windows Setup can see my B: floppy...

I enabled Legacy USB but it still doesn't see my RAID drivers in the floppy... then again it is asking for them in Drive A: and my USB Floppy is drive B: how can I do something about that?

I will wait for advice before i move ahead (onto plugging the RAID in connectors 1 and 2), please advice if I am following suggestions in the best order

Alex, I have the drives plugged in to connectors 1 and 2, but before I power up... how will the system know that that is my RAID... do I need to re-configure it?

I am afraid of loosing my data...

Before I try this I'd rather hear back from you guys about it... in the mean time I will update my Media Center installation a bit more, get rid of some of those pop-ups at start up and what not... but I have the Cable plugged into port #2 already which is a huge pain

I went in vacations to my home town=Puerto Rico,and have a great time.
You don't need to reconfigure the, raid only be sure to enable the raid,and enable those ports.

ok so I tried the Window Setup with the XP-32 RAID on ports 1 and 2 with no luck... (look below) but I just realized something... when it checks for the files on the Floppy my USB floppy drive doesn't even turn on... so it is clearly not looking in it most likely cause it looks in A: and my floppy is B:

IN THE CONSOLE:
A:\\> Dir
gets hung up for a long time and then comes back with an error "An error occurred during directory enumeration"

C:\\> fixboot
spits out "FIXBOOT cannot find the system drive, or the drive specified is not valid"

so I tried getting into B: and D: E: F: and all of them say the same when i type Dir:"There is no floppy disk or CD in the drive"

G: is my optical... Dir works on G:...

Hey, back from a good nights sleep.

When you tried to "fixboot"
You need to make sure that it is within C:\\windows then try fixboot
If you xp 32 was on E: drive then change from C:\\ to E:\\windows
from memory you type "CD E:\\windows" if that does not work then windows does not see the raid array.

The other way would be to load the drivers on your Media center OS
Just as Litlratt explained
I would do it in these steps
1\\ disconnect all drives, only have the Media center disk connected
2\\ Load raid drivers through windows restart to complete install
3\\ reconnect raid array making sure you have the right two disks connected in the right array through the bios
4\\ restart windows to see if a new device has been found by windows
5\\ look for new drive in My Computer

If it has not found it go to disk management found in computer management and tell me what you see.

good to hear... I didn't sleep much he he..

ok so I tried every possible combination and setup to do the fixboot command and none of them worked...

I will try to load the drivers through the Media Center installation... but I don't follow step 2... what is Windows Restart to Complete Install?

ohhhh... you mean I boot up on Media Center with only that single drive plugged in... then I somehow load the driver while I am in Windows... then I hot-plug the array?

I am sorry but I don't follow... I tried re-reading Lilratt's and everyone elses' post... but I can't figure out how to do this one

BTW, if anyone is following this problem over from the P5N32E-SLI sticky... I tested Orthos 6hs with my 3.15GHz OC with RAM at stock 800 and auto timmings... but I won't be messing with that till I get back onto my RAID XP-32 install
